A music development consultant, Rachel Nelken has been working in the music industry/funded music sector for the last 13 years. As Applications Manager for the PRS For Music Foundation from its creation in 1999-2006 she set up many schemes to support emerging artists including ground-breaking electronic music scheme, Live Connections, and the jazz artist development programme Take 5, still running now. Since then Rachel has worked for organisations and local authorities across the UK setting up urban youth music projects for young people, raising over £1m in funding from public and private sources.  She regularly works with and advises music funders including Creative Scotland, Youth Music, and Arts Council London where she is currently based.
