MiC LOWRY

MiC LOWRY are quickly establishing themselves as one of the most exciting young R’n’B groups in the world right now. The young men from Liverpool continue to seduce an incredibly loyal fan base on the regular worldwide – in their first year as a professional outfit, their debut EP ‘The Show’ went straight in at No.1 on the UK iTunes Official RnB Chart and they won the MOBO Unsigned competition – not to mention being nominated for the BET Awards ‘Best International Newcomer’.

Selling out their first UK headline national tour in minutes, MiC LOWRY’s grassroots popularity is undeniable for such a young group; a fact apparent throughout their first summer of festival performances including at Glastonbury on the BBC Introducing stage following a personal invitation by DJ Target.

Tastemakers and industry across both sides of the Atlantic are now picking up on the heat with BEAT, RWD and Digital Spy adding to the critical acclaim they’re gathering online. With major support by BBC Radio 1 Xtra labeling them ‘the next big thing to come out of the UK’, MiC LOWRY are undeniably one of the most exciting acts coming out of an increasingly vibrant UK scene.

‘Bad Intentions’ is their newest offering – a fresh, consummate sound cementing what’s becoming a signature hybrid of acoustic soul music, from a young group that sound like they’ve been doing this all their lives.

THE WHOLLS

“The Wholls are being touted as the sound of 2016…Debut single X21 is indie rock with a light dash of dub, and is the culmination of two years’ worth of BBC Introducing and Battle of the Bands-type attention.” – The Guardian

This rule-breaking band began their career by sneaking into their would-be manager’s grounds, setting up a PA on the lawn and playing their hearts out without invitation – it was clear these guys were never going to go unheard.

Following an exciting end to 2015, rounding the year off with a live televised performance at Miss World (2.3 billion viewing audience), The Wholls are set to kick of 2016 in a truly enormous fashion.

The Wholls (Wolz) are a Bedford-based 4 piece who play alternative rock music for venues packed with manic fans, with a sound that sits equally as comfortably on mainstream radio along with the likes of Jamie T, Royal Blood and Foals. Their energetic & edgy live performances have steadily been building them a legion of loyal fans and frontman Tordy is fast garnering a reputation as an electrifying presence on stage.

Their debut single ‘X21’ is a great introduction to a sound that is distinctively ‘The Wholls’ and a sound that is making all the right noises in the industry. The song was Track of The Week with This Feeling on Radio X (commencing 06/01/16), Channel 4’s new Future Sounds show profiled the band with live performances and interview (06/01/16) and BBC Introducing build on support from 2015 with live sessions booked in for the band.

KIOKO

Kioko are a group of like-minded artists with big personalities who started their musical journey as boys in music class at school. Lead vocalist Matt Doyle; Jon Brown, the bands guitarist; Ben Torrens the bass player; Tom Collins on drums; Ewan Whyte and Laurence Taylor both have the role of trumpet player/vocalist; Josh Wilkinson plays the trombone, whilst Tijhs Jordan is the bands guitarist, an eclectic mix of talent use of live instruments has encouraged them to develop their unique fusion of soulful pop, reggae and jazz.

They quickly defined themselves as one to watch with music reminiscent of reggae greats – their powerful hooks and melodies are filled with well-received sociological and political relevant messages, disguised by sharp song writing sensibilities and heavy cultural musical influences. An intriguing sound guaranteed to get your mind thinking and head bopping.

True What They Say, produced by the legendary British reggae figurehead and band mentor Spider Johnson solidified them as an eccentric blend of jazzy hooks and conscious minds. Their follow up Let’s Be Frank aims to be just as powerful.

As well as being solid in the studio Kioko pride themselves on giving a high standard of lively and memorable shows with high adrenalin and energetic performances set to win over audiences old and new. During the last EP they were gaining radio support from Huw Stephens‘ show on BBC Radio 1Huey Morgan’s show on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 1Xtra (who played favoured track taken from the EP, ‘Don’t Keep Me Waiting’ for a week) and had already had performed with a great variety of artists including Tinie TempahTinchy StryderThe SpecialsThe Musical Youth and Youngblood Brassband.

ORFAN

Reflecting on the unspoken, the unseen, the unheard, Alexei Elfenbein’s Orfan is, for him, a matter of necessity.   An adolescence spent immersed in instrumental music gave way to a growing interest in songwriting and exposing struggles, both personal and political.  Inspired in equal measure by psychedelia, classic pop and the somehow isolating but connected world we find ourselves in, Orfan’s live show is an intimate and expressive outing of a voice that must be heard.

TOM DUNNE

Since moving to London last year Tom Dunne has been gaining musical ground, performing at iconic venues such as Shepherds Bush Empire and Borderline, as well as being booked to play a slot at Secret Garden Party last summer.

With a strong foundation of R’n’B beats and sincerely soulful vocals, Tom creates an honest blend between live and mellow electronica, offering an insight into his reality. Festival organiser Howard Monk described him as “One of my favourites to be sure. Very moody and quietly groovy” in an interview with Q Magazine.

After having his debut demo track ‘Storm’ played on BBC introducing, he has been recording new material with his band and Stockholm based producer Qillme.
